How did you start your journey in Homeopathy?

After a few years in conventional veterinary practice I started to wonder whether I could justify my fees for keeping dispensing the same medicines for the same recurring conditions. On an impulse, I bought a book by Paul Kollitsch who proposed a classification of homeopathic medicines based on physiological considerations. I did not quite understand the book but I was enthused by finding there was a more involved way to practice medicine that also seemed to be more in line with reality and I enrolled in a course for veterinary homeopaths in Paris. Later, it was the teaching of Marc Brunson in Belgium that really kickstarted my road to homeopathic practice.

How do you integrate Homeopathy into your Practice?

Fifteen years ago, I settled in a pure conventional practice where I was lucky to have the freedom to do what I choose to. I told myself that if homeopathy is a valid way of practicing medicine and I can master the technique, I should be able to make it ‘normal’ (as ‘in the norm’) in a place where nobody asks for it. I now consider that I am a veterinary surgeon practicing medicine. In order to do this I have to use the most appropriate approaches to help each patient/client in the best possible way. This can be conventional medicine, a mix of homeopathy and conventional medicine and homeopathy as the only approach, both in acute and chronic cases. Notably, the third arm of EBM is the preference, individual sensitivities and choices of the patient: hence, after informing, I aim to adapt choices of treatment and approach to my client/patients.
