How did you start your journey in Homeopathy?

My journey began as a child, with family ailments always treated with various homeopathic remedies under the guidance of my mother. We rarely visited the doctors so this was my normal. When I decided to train to be a veterinarian I already had an interest in holistic medicine and although I studied hard to learn what conventional medicine and surgery could offer, I knew that holistic medicine could fill in some of the gaps where allopathic medicine struggled. I yearned to be able to provide true wellness to my patients.

How do you integrate Homeopathy into your Practice?

I work in a very busy conventional mixed practice with 15 other vets. I am the only vet who integrates complementary therapies  but I find I can create my small niche. I take extended homeopathic consults for those who seek alternatives at a small branch practice and also dispense homeopathy where I can during routine consults and for hospitalised patients.

What I offer appeals to those clients who like to avoid conventional medicine for their animal companions, and who like to be understood for wanting to approach their pets healthcare a different way. I can also offer hope to those patients where conventional medicine has not been beneficial. The additional tools of homeopathy and acupuncture have provided the job satisfaction that keeps me enthusiastic about my job after almost 30 years in practice.
